Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired a State Level Committee meeting at the Haryana Civil Secretariat on Monday to review and approve draft development plans for multiple urban centers. The Town and Country Planning Department presented the Naraingarh Development Plan 2031 along with comprehensive master plans extending up to 2041 for Kurukshetra, Narnaul, and Panipat. Emphasizing the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that all urban development frameworks account for projected population growth, modern infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and robust transport networks.
Under the Naraingarh 2031 plan, the town will be developed to cater to an estimated population of 95,000 across six new residential sectors, with explicit buffer zones established between industrial and residential areas. The Kurukshetra 2041 framework focuses on preserving the district’s religious and cultural heritage, directing that 250 acres be reserved for the Iconic Destination Scheme alongside flood mitigation strategies for the Saraswati River catchment area. For Narnaul, the 2041 blueprint incorporates 20 residential sectors, an Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub, new bypass routes, and dedicated eco-tourism conservation zones.
The Panipat 2041 plan addresses rapid urbanization by expanding residential areas flanking the existing city layout and establishing a one-kilometer-wide industrial belt along the Panipat-Shamli National Highway. The committee also evaluated land usage for the former sugar mill in Sector 34, approving its designation as a special mixed-use zone. Senior state administrative officials, including Chief Principal Secretary RK Khullar and relevant department heads, attended the meeting to finalize the statutory approvals.
