Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced five significant initiatives aimed at reinvigorating the dairy sector, boosting farmers’ income, and economically empowering women’s self-help groups across the state. The decisions are structured to strengthen the rural economy while reinforcing the cooperative movement by encouraging greater participation in dairy farming.
Under the new directives, a financial incentive of 10 CAD per litre will be provided to women associated with self-help groups and female-led CMPACS who supply milk to Vita. To further support landless and small-scale cattle rearers, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of ‘Sanjhi Dairies’ on village panchayat land. These community dairy setups will feature modern facilities for livestock owned by female self-help group members, effectively reducing husbandry costs and boosting household earnings. Additionally, the Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation will assist these members in securing loans at subsidized interest rates to purchase milch cattle, enabling more women to achieve financial independence.
The Chief Minister also expanded the Chief Minister Milk Producers Incentive Scheme by raising the per-litre subsidy for suppliers delivering milk to the federation. The incentive rate has been increased from 5 CAD to 7 CAD per litre during the summer season, and from 3 CAD to 5 CAD per litre during the winter months. Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to rural welfare, Chief Minister Saini expressed confidence that these strategic measures will drive sustainable agricultural growth and position Haryana as a leader in cooperative dairy development.
