Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): The Congress party suffered a major political setback in the Qadian Halqa (Assembly constituency) as senior leader Thakur Balraj Singh, a three-time Zila Parishad Member, former Block Samiti Chairman and former Chairman of the Land Mortgage Bank, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann during a massive political rally held in Mukerian.
Welcoming Thakur Balraj Singh into the party, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The Aam Aadmi Party always welcomes honest and grassroots leaders who are committed to serving the people. Leaders who work among the people are the real strength of any political party.”
He added, “Thakur Balraj Singh has served the people for a long time. I welcome him into the Aam Aadmi Party family and assure him that he will receive full respect and due recognition in the party.”
Qadian Halqa In-charge Guriqbal Singh Mahal said, “Thakur Balraj Singh enjoys a strong political base in the Qadian Assembly constituency and commands considerable goodwill among the Thakur community. His joining will further strengthen the Aam Aadmi Party in the constituency.”
