Haryana CM Saini Orders Installation of Recharge Wells to Tackle Waterlogging in Panchkula Parks

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired the fourth meeting of the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority, where he directed officials to install recharge wells in all public parks to eliminate waterlogging issues, particularly during the monsoon season. He specified that only treated water should be utilized for maintaining these green spaces. Highlighting the state’s vision to transform Panchkula into the top city for civic infrastructure, the Chief Minister instructed departments to formulate a comprehensive master plan and identify suitable land to build flats for eligible families, aiming to make the city entirely slum-free.

To streamline urban management and ensure high-quality public services, Saini delineated the responsibilities of various civic bodies. The Municipal Corporation will supervise sanitation, sewerage, roads, and drinking water supply across residential sectors, while the PMDA will manage dividing roads and storm water drainage systems. Additionally, the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran will handle water billing, unsold properties, and sanitation in partially constructed residential areas. The Chief Minister also called for the immediate transfer of super sucker machines from HSVP to the Municipal Corporation to expedite drainage clearing ahead of heavy rains.

The redevelopment plan also places a heavy emphasis on urban beautification and safety. The Chief Minister instructed that the Fountain Park in Panchkula be developed on the lines of Gurugram’s Laser Valley, incorporating wall paintings, fountain installations, and upgraded public conveniences. Furthermore, Saini ordered a formal inquiry into the expenditures of the local multi-feature park, while confirming that the ongoing construction of Atal Park will be completed by November 30. Other approved initiatives include the beautification of an 11-kilometre drainage network under the Jaladhara Yojana-2, the installation of five new sewage treatment plants, and the implementation of advanced CCTV surveillance networks to enhance urban security.
