Haryana and Bihar Ink Interstate Bus Service Agreement linking Major Industrial Hubs

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Government of Haryana has finalized a bilateral agreement with the Government of Bihar to launch direct interstate bus services between the two states. The official agreement was signed by Haryana’s Transport Department Additional Chief Secretary Raja Sekhar Vundru and Bihar State Transport Commissioner Arif Ahsan, with key transport officials from both regions in attendance. This collaborative initiative aims to provide commuters with a safe, reliable, comfortable, and highly affordable public transit alternative.

Under this newly established framework, modern air-conditioned buses will run on regular, structured schedules linking major Haryana hubs like Gurugram, Ambala, Sonipat, and Panipat to six key administrative divisions in Bihar, which include Patna, Purnea, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, and Bhagalpur. Transit authorities noted that these scheduled routes are intended to minimize reliance on unregulated private transport, making high-quality long-distance travel accessible to the general public at economical fare rates.

Highlighting the socioeconomic impact of the pact, Vundru stated that Haryana stands as a major employment and industrial hub attracting a significant population of workers, professionals, and students from Bihar. The introduction of these direct routes is expected to greatly simplify travel for thousands of regular commuters while simultaneously strengthening trade, academic exchange, and tourism links. By bridging the geographical gap, both state administrations look forward to fostering robust economic cooperation and enhancing regional connectivity.
