Delhi (Balwinder Singh/Gurpreet Singh): Delhi Police have claimed a major breakthrough in the investigation into the firing incident outside a gym linked to Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa, with the arrest of two alleged gang operatives following a late-night encounter in the national capital.
According to officials, the duo had remained out of reach since the shooting incident earlier this month and were among the most wanted suspects in the case. Their arrest now means that all four individuals allegedly involved in the attack have been taken into custody.
Police said Special Cell teams were acting on specific intelligence regarding the movement of the suspects in west Delhi. Officers reportedly learned that the men had entered the area and were planning another criminal operation. A trap was laid, and the suspects were intercepted before they could carry out their alleged plans.
Investigators stated that the situation escalated when the accused allegedly attempted to escape and fired at the police team. A brief exchange followed, after which both men were apprehended. Authorities said the suspects suffered injuries during the operation and were later admitted for medical treatment.
Weapons allegedly used by the accused were recovered during the arrest, police officials added.
The shooting incident that triggered the investigation occurred on June 11 outside a gym associated with Guru Randhawa. While no injuries were reported during the attack, the case attracted significant attention due to the singer’s popularity and the alleged involvement of organised criminal elements.
Prior to the latest operation, two other suspects had already been arrested in neighbouring Haryana. Investigators believe all four accused were acting under instructions from individuals linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Police sources said the investigation also points toward the involvement of gangster Anil Pandit, who is believed to be operating from overseas. Authorities are examining communications, digital evidence and financial trails to establish the extent of the alleged conspiracy.
A social media message claiming responsibility for the attack surfaced shortly after the firing incident, bringing further attention to the case. Investigators are treating the online claim as an important part of the probe and are working to determine how the attack was planned and coordinated.
Officials suspect the firing was intended as a warning rather than a random act of violence. The motive is being examined in the context of ongoing rivalries and past threats associated with organised crime networks.
With all four accused now in custody, investigators are expected to focus on uncovering the chain of command behind the operation and identifying any additional individuals who may have facilitated the attack.
Police have described the arrests as a crucial step in dismantling the network allegedly responsible for the incident. Further interrogations are underway, and authorities believe more details regarding the planning and execution of the shooting may emerge in the coming days.
