Writers Give New Direction to Society, Says Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan at Sahitya Puraskar Samaroh

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan has asserted that litterateurs and writers give a brand new direction to society through the power of their pens. Speaking as the chief guest at the grand Sahitya Puraskar Samaroh organized by the Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Academy in Panchkula on Wednesday, the Speaker noted that no other medium can match the profound level of public awareness generated by literary creations. He emphasized that the role of a writer is as vital as that of the government in realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed nation. Kalyan reiterated the state government’s steadfast commitment to honoring local literary talent and stated that continuous initiatives are being taken to ensure the systematic upliftment of regional art, literature, and culture. Reflecting a deeply personal connection to the field, the Speaker added that he feels incredibly fortunate to share his life with a writer as his partner.

The extensive felicitation ceremony witnessed active participation from 65 prominent litterateurs from across different districts of Haryana, representing Punjabi, Hindi, and Haryanvi languages. The honored dignitaries were presented with a prestigious citation and a traditional ceremonial shawl. The awards were distributed by Speaker Harvinder Kalyan alongside Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora, who attended as the special guest, and the Academy’s senior leadership including Executive Vice President Dr. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri and Member Secretary Manjeet Singh. Prominent cell directors of the academy—including Dr. Dharmadev Vidyarthi for Hindi and Haryanvi, Dr. C.D.S. Kaushal for Sanskrit, Dr. Chandra Trikha for Urdu, and Sardar Harpal Singh Cheeka for Punjabi—were also present on the stage to honor the awardees.

Among the prominent achievers honored for their exceptional contributions to Hindi and Haryanvi languages were Anjali Sifar from Ambala, Vikas Yashkirti from Bhiwani, Radheshyam Bharatiya from Karnal, Brahmadutt Sharma from Yamunanagar, B.R. Arora and Archana Kochar from Rohtak, Shrinivas Vats from Delhi, and Dr. Hemlata Sharma from Zirakpur. The academy also conferred awards upon Pradeep Singh from Hisar, Pushpraj Chaswal and Ramesh Mehra from Ambala City, Jay Bhardwaj Tarawari from Karnal, Dr. Renu Sharma from Sonipat, Bijendra Singh from Bhiwani, Amish Kumar from Mahendragarh, Dilbag Singh Virk and Bharat Baranwal from Sirsa, Dr. Umesh Pratap from Yamunanagar, Dr. Ved Prakash from Chandigarh, Dr. B. Madan Mohan from Jagadhri, Meena Naveen from Ambala Cantt, Dr. Vijay Kumar Vedalankar from Sonipat, Janak Raj Sharma from Sirsa, Navratna from Charkhi Dadri, Kamlesh Goyat and Kusum Goyat from Jind, Ram Pratap Verma from Panchkula, and Vishnu Bhagwan from Kurukshetra.
