Ghaziabad teen killing: Accused shot dead in police encounter after dramatic chase

Rajeev Sharma :- The main accused in the murder of 17-year-old Surya Chauhan was killed in a police encounter in Ghaziabad late Saturday night, marking a significant development in a case that had triggered widespread public anger.

Police identified the accused as Asad, who was allegedly involved in Surya Chauhan’s murder on Bakrid. Acting on specific intelligence, officers received information that Asad was planning to travel to Khora to collect money from a friend before escaping the city. A police team subsequently set up surveillance and laid a trap along the suspected route.

According to officials, Asad arrived at the location on a motorcycle accompanied by another person. When police moved in to stop them, Asad allegedly opened fire at the team. Police responded, and during the exchange of gunfire, Asad was shot and injured.

He was taken to a hospital for medical treatment, while a police constable also suffered injuries during the encounter. Authorities said the constable was in stable condition.

Police recovered the motorcycle used by the accused along with a country-made pistol allegedly used in the firing. The second individual who was with Asad managed to escape, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest him.

Officials later confirmed that Asad died from his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.
