Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday lauded the Sikh community for its unwavering bravery and ultimate sacrifices for the country, stating that every citizen feels immense pride in their glorious heritage. Speaking at a special thanksgiving event organized by the Sikh Sangat at Haryana Niwas, where he was honored with a siropa and a ceremonial kirpan, Saini emphasized that from Guru Nanak Dev to Guru Gobind Singh, the Sikh gurus have consistently guided the nation along the path of service, equality, and courage.
The Chief Minister highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, unprecedented efforts are being made to preserve religious and cultural heritage across the country. Key national initiatives include the development of the Sri Anandpur Sahib-Sri Fatehgarh Sahib-Sri Chamkaur Sahib-Firozpur-Amritsar-Khatkar Kalan-Kalanaur-Patiala heritage circuit under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the opening of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, and special flight operations connecting Amritsar to Sri Nanded Sahib. Saini also noted that the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas is now observed nationwide with deep reverence every year on December 26 as Veer Baal Diwas.
Detailing the infrastructure and academic milestones within Haryana, the Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to honoring the gurus by naming prominent institutions after them. The medical college under construction in Yamunanagar and the Government Polytechnic College in Ambala have both been named after Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, while the Tohana-Jind-Dhamtan Sahib Road has been designated as Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Marg. Furthermore, the degree college in Assandh has been named after Baba Fateh Singh and a Veterinary Livestock Development Assistant (VLDA) college has been established in Lakhnaur Sahib in memory of Mata Gujri.

Saini further explained that the state’s Swarn Jayanti Guru Darshan Yatra Yojana is actively providing crucial financial assistance to regional pilgrims traveling to revered sites like Sri Hazur Sahib, Sri Nankana Sahib, Sri Hemkund Sahib, and Sri Patna Sahib, backed by the operation of special trains from Kurukshetra and Sirsa to Nanded.
