Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda stated that academic degrees are not merely pieces of paper but symbols of student perseverance, parental sacrifice, and mentorship. Speaking as the chief guest at the second convocation ceremony of the Women’s Degree College in Jhojhu Kalan, Charkhi Dadri, Dhanda conferred undergraduate and postgraduate degrees upon 650 female students, celebrating the growing impact of higher education within rural communities.
The Education Minister highlighted the state government’s ongoing structural commitment to women’s education through its strategic policy of establishing a government women’s college within every 20-kilometre radius. This spatial planning framework aims to eliminate geographical barriers to higher education, ensuring that rural female students do not have to travel long distances or compromise their academic pursuits due to safety or logistical constraints. Dhanda noted that local institutions are rewriteable proofs of transformation, turning areas once limited in scope into regions producing academic gold medallists and future community leaders.
Emphasizing the broader societal impact of female literacy, the Minister reiterated the core principle that educating a young woman structurally elevates an entire family and subsequent generations. He challenged the graduates to look beyond entry-level employment and instead leverage their qualifications to become social leaders and decision-makers, keeping their cultural values intact while entering contemporary global fields.
Reflecting on national development goals, Dhanda connected the students’ academic milestones to the union government’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, which aims to transition India into a fully developed and self-reliant nation by the centenary of its independence. With approximately 65 per cent of the national demographic comprised of youth, the state administration continues to scale up targeted skill development, employment, and entrepreneurship programs to harness this workforce. The convocation ceremony concluded with expressions of academic solidarity alongside dignitaries including MLAs Sunil Sangwan and Umed Patuwas, Chaudhary Bansi Lal University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Deepti Dharmani, and SDM Virender Singh.
