Haryana Secures Global Geospatial Excellence Award in Rotterdam for Space-to-Citizen Agricultural Tech

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— In a major international validation of its digital governance, the Haryana Space Applications Centre secured the prestigious Geospatial Excellence Award at the Geospatial World Forum 2026. The global recognition celebrates Haryana’s innovative “Space to Citizen Service” framework, an integrated geo-enabled system designed to assist farmers, track crop health, and streamline environmental resources across the state.

Operating under the Citizen Resources Information Department, HARSAC developed the platform to provide real-time spatial analytics for over 1.5 million farmers across 10 million distinct agricultural plots each cropping season. The cloud-based infrastructure maintains over 4,000 active daily users, ranging from local revenue officials and surveyors to policymakers and agricultural researchers. Beyond crop yield estimation and acreage tracking, the advanced geospatial platform plays a vital role in stubble burning management, tracking irrigation infrastructure, mapping wholesale markets, and conducting satellite-based crop insurance assessments.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini extended his congratulations to the entire engineering and scientific team at HARSAC, terming the global honor a proud milestone for the state’s digital ecosystem. He emphasized that the integration of artificial intelligence, remote sensing satellite data, and unmanned aerial vehicle surveys has dramatically enhanced policy transparency and scientific resource planning. HARSAC Director Dr. Sultan Singh credited the administrative success to the state’s proactive tech policies, noting that the international jury highly commended Haryana’s scalable model for its direct contribution to regional food security, climate resilience, and public welfare mapping.
