Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— Following a directive from Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini regarding environmental protection and fuel conservation, Cabinet Minister Ranbir Gangwa ordered the immediate withdrawal of 17 official vehicles across his departments. The decision was finalized during a high-level review meeting held on Sunday to assess transport logistics within his ministries. The move aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide call to minimize carbon footprints and promote the responsible utilization of state resources.
The administrative action impacts the state’s infrastructure wings directly, leading to the immediate removal of nine vehicles from the Public Health Engineering Department and eight from the Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Department. Leading by example, Minister Gangwa also ordered the removal of the security pilot vehicle from his personal convoy and announced that he will travel without a pilot escort to further curtail unnecessary fuel consumption.
During the departmental review, Minister Gangwa directed senior bureaucrats and engineering heads to actively transition toward virtual meetings to limit inter-district official travel. He emphasized that government vehicles should be strictly reserved for essential public welfare tasks and field emergencies, urging officials to adopt vehicle-pooling mechanisms for routine operations. Department heads have also been instructed to implement rigid monitoring systems for vehicle logbooks and daily fuel expenditures to prevent administrative misuse.
