Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation and Technology has officially invited nominations for the Haryana Science Ratna Awards and Haryana Yuva Science Ratna Awards to honour scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of science and technology. Announced by a government spokesperson on Friday, these awards aim to recognize exceptional research and foster scientific innovation across the state. The final deadline for submitting applications and recommendations to the council’s office has been set for July 31, 2026.
Under the framework announced for the 2026 cycle, the Haryana Science Ratna Award targets distinguished scientists over the age of 40 who have achieved notable milestones in technological advancements and scientific discoveries. The recipient of this premium provincial honour will be presented with a cash prize of five lakh rupees, alongside a formal citation and a commemorative trophy. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to acknowledging long-standing dedication to research and development that benefits the community at large.
Simultaneously, the Haryana Yuva Science Ratna Award is designed to cultivate younger talent and promote a robust scientific temperament among the next generation of researchers. Young scientists under the age of 40 will be eligible for a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a citation, and a trophy, with the age limit to be calculated as of December 31, 2026. To qualify for either award category, nominees must be residents of Haryana, or individuals who have either studied or worked within the state for a minimum duration of 10 years. The spokesperson clarified that only fresh nominations submitted by eligible institutions or peers will be considered, as self-nominations are strictly prohibited under the program guidelines.
