Phagwara (Gurpreet Singh): Questions over campus security at Lovely Professional University (LPU) have surfaced following unrest on the university premises, with Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke urging the Punjab Police to investigate how people from outside the institution were allegedly able to enter the campus.
In a post on X, Dipke said the responsibility for the disruption should not be placed entirely on students. He claimed that outsiders had entered the university and contributed to the disorder on campus.
Dipke also raised concerns about the safety of female students, saying several students had reportedly expressed fear and a sense of insecurity amid the presence of outsiders.
The incident has put the spotlight on access control and security arrangements at the university. Dipke questioned how individuals who were not part of the student community managed to gain entry and called for the circumstances to be examined.
“Students’ safety and security cannot be compromised,” Dipke said, urging the Punjab Police to establish how the outsiders entered the campus and what happened thereafter.
The questions come amid wider concerns over maintaining security at educational institutions during periods of tension or large gatherings. Determining who entered the campus, how access was obtained and whether security protocols were followed will be key aspects of any investigation.
Dipke’s remarks have added to the demand for accountability, with the focus now shifting towards the role of campus security and law enforcement in preventing unauthorised entry and ensuring the safety of students.
