US Weighs Iran’s Fresh Offer as Donald Trump Leaves Door Open for Military Response

Washington (Rajeev Sharma): Tensions between United States and Iran remain high as a new diplomatic proposal from Tehran is being examined, even while Washington signals that military options are still on the table.

Former US President Donald Trump said he would review Iran’s latest peace framework but expressed doubts about its viability. He suggested that the proposal may not meet expectations, pointing to longstanding grievances and questioning whether it adequately addresses core concerns.

During a media interaction, Trump indicated that a return to military action could not be ruled out. While he stopped short of outlining specific conditions, he noted that any provocative move by Iran could prompt a response.

The conflict, which erupted earlier this year and involved coordination with Israel, has been in a fragile pause since a ceasefire took effect in early April. Diplomatic efforts, including backchannel discussions involving Pakistan, have yet to yield a lasting resolution.

Iran’s revised proposal reportedly includes provisions to de-escalate hostilities and address disputes surrounding the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route. However, officials in Tehran have also maintained a firm stance, emphasizing readiness to respond if tensions escalate again.

With both sides projecting caution and resolve, the coming days are expected to be crucial in determining whether negotiations can move forward or if the standoff risks sliding back into conflict.
