Nari Shakti is the Nation’s Real Strength; BJP Committed to Women’s Honour and Rights: Krishan Kumar Bedi

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana’s Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Kumar Bedi, asserted that women’s power is currently driving all critical sectors of the country. Speaking in favour of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam during a special one-day session of the Haryana Assembly on Monday, April 27, 2026, Bedi highlighted that while President Droupadi Murmu occupies the nation’s highest office, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is firmly steering the national economy.

The Minister launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, claiming that while they held power during previous censuses and delimitations, they were never serious about women’s reservation. He noted that the opposition’s current concerns regarding the linking of reservation with delimitation are baseless and politically motivated. Bedi further took a jab at the opposition, stating that those who previously supported practices equivalent to “licensing female foeticide” are now merely pretending to care about women’s respect.

Key Highlights of the Minister’s Address:

  • Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao: Bedi recalled that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the campaign from Panipat, the sex ratio in 12 out of 21 districts in Haryana was dismal, standing at just 822 girls per 1,000 boys. He credited the PM with erasing the “stigma of female foeticide” from the state.
  • Educational Empowerment: He highlighted that the Haryana government is providing free education to girls up to the graduation level, contrasting this with what he termed the “political posturing” of the opposition.
  • Welfare and Infrastructure: The Minister noted that schemes like “Har Ghar Jal” (tap water in every home) and the construction of household toilets have directly restored dignity to women’s lives.
  • Agricultural Support: Responding to the opposition’s focus on farmers, Bedi pointed out that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s government has made history by purchasing 24 crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), effectively strengthening the rural economy.

Bedi concluded by stating that the BJP’s resolution is to provide women with both the respect they deserve and the legal rights they require to lead. He emphasized that the government has ensured comprehensive care for women from childhood through improved health and education facilities across the state.
