Case Filed Against Passenger for Taking “Objectionable” Photos of Cabin Crew

Coimbatore (Gurpreet Singh): A 30-year-old businessman from Coimbatore has been booked by the police after he allegedly used his mobile phone to take “objectionable” zoomed-in photographs of female cabin crew members during a flight. The incident occurred on April 24 on a flight traveling from Coimbatore to Udaipur. According to the complaint filed by airline staff at the RGI Airport outpost, the passenger appeared to be in an intoxicated state during the journey.

Upon the flight’s arrival, the individual was de-boarded and handed over to the authorities. A case has since been registered under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to any word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman. A senior police official stated that while the cabin crew accused the man of specifically zooming in on them to capture unauthorized images, the passenger has denied the allegations during preliminary questioning, claiming he did not take any such photographs.

The accused, who reportedly operates a business in Coimbatore, was on his way to Udaipur when the alleged harassment took place. Investigators are currently reviewing the contents of the passenger’s mobile phone to verify the claims made by the airline staff. The police have emphasized that strict action will be taken based on the findings of the digital evidence as the investigation continues.
