Chandigarh (Naval Kishore): A State-level event under Poshan Pakhwada was successfully held at Snehalaya, Maloya, focusing on a “DIY Toy Making Workshop” to encourage early childhood development through creative, low-cost learning tools.
The event was graced by Smt. Anuradha S. Chagti, Secretary, Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration, along with Ms. Radhika Singh, Director of the department. Anganwadi workers, parents, and officials actively participated in the programme.
Organized in collaboration with NGO Kachhi Sadak, the workshop highlighted the use of locally available materials to create educational toys. Experts, including doctors from PGIMER, emphasized reducing children’s screen time and promoting interactive, play-based learning.
Various activities such as slogan writing competitions, Poshan rallies, and sports events were also conducted across different areas to promote nutrition awareness, physical development, and community participation.
The initiative reinforced the importance of holistic child development, maternal health, and strengthening Anganwadi centres as vibrant community learning hubs.
