Lamp Sparks Blaze in Ajnala, House Gutted; Two Vehicles Destroyed, Loss Pegged at ₹50 Lakh

Gurpreet Singh :- A major fire incident was reported from the Ajnala area of Amritsar, where a residential property near Fatehgarh Churian Road was completely gutted after flames reportedly erupted from a ceremonial lamp lit at a religious spot inside the house. The blaze spread rapidly, leaving the family with little time to respond and resulting in extensive damage to the structure.

According to the affected family, the fire originated from a lamp placed at a ‘Peeran di jagah’ (a sacred space within the house), which quickly escalated and engulfed the entire building. Two vehicles parked inside the premises were also reduced to ashes, along with other valuable household belongings.

The family has estimated the total loss at approximately ₹50 lakh, stating that the entire building and all possessions were destroyed in the incident. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Police officials confirmed that preliminary findings point towards the lamp as the source of the fire. Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events and assess the extent of damage.
