Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Rabi procurement season for 2026-27 is progressing successfully across Haryana, with significant increases in wheat arrival and procurement compared to the previous year. As of April 12, 2026, approximately 39.65 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of wheat have arrived in state mandis, nearly double the 20.39 lakh MT recorded during the same period last year. Government agencies have already procured 10.92 lakh MT of wheat, with direct benefit transfers totaling ₹188 crore already credited to the bank accounts of farmers.

To enhance transparency and efficiency under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the state has implemented rigorous new protocols. This season features mandatory biometric verification for farmers, for which 1,281 machines and 407 iris scanning devices have been installed across procurement centres. So far, over 2.44 lakh farmers have successfully completed biometric verification for 30.90 lakh MT of wheat. Additionally, the government has deployed geo-fencing for mandis and installed 932 cameras to monitor all activities and prevent irregularities.

For this season, the Government of India has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) at ₹2,585 per quintal for wheat and ₹6,200 per quintal for mustard. Procurement is being handled by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, HAFED, Haryana Warehousing Corporation, and the Food Corporation of India. A total of 416 mandis and 680 total procurement sites have been activated for wheat, while 112 centres are managing mustard. The state government remains committed to purchasing every single grain from farmers registered on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal.
