Community Groups Unite for Free Lung Cancer Awareness Event on Dec. 6 in Calgary

Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): A significant community health initiative will take place on December 6, 2025, as the Ambe Society of Calgary & MFI, Mobility Financial Inc., hosts a complimentary Lung Cancer Awareness Event aimed at educating residents about early detection and the hidden environmental risks linked to lung cancer, including radon exposure.

The event will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Indian Ex-Servicemen Immigrant Association, located at 4774 Westwinds Dr NE, #503, Calgary. The venue is being provided by the Ex-Servicemen Society in support of the community-focused health initiative.

The program aims to “unmask the reality of lung cancer,” highlighting that the disease is caused not only by smoking but also by invisible threats such as radon recognized as the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada. To help families identify and reduce these risks, organizers will distribute 50 complimentary radon test kits on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees will also be offered tea and snacks, making the event both informative and welcoming.

Ricky Narula from Ambe Society stated, “This event is about protecting our community. Our goal is to spread awareness about lung cancer risks and equip families with tools that could save lives.” Supported additionally by Great West Radon and Aceso Medical, the initiative reflects a strong collective effort toward improving public health awareness across Calgary.

National Times is proud to support the event as the official media partner, helping extend outreach and community engagement. The event is open to all Calgary residents, and families are encouraged to participate.
