Kathmandu (Rajeev Sharma): Nepal has expanded its emergency response in Rasuwa district following major flooding in the Bhotekoshi River, with security personnel and rescue teams working to reach communities affected by the rising waters.
The government has increased search and rescue activities in areas considered vulnerable, while relief supplies are being moved to people in need. The Nepali Army has already transported food, tents and medicines to affected locations as part of the emergency assistance.
Both Nepali Army and privately operated helicopters have been deployed to support the operation. Ground teams are also moving on foot in Timure, Syabrubesi and areas along the river to assess conditions, assist civilians and identify locations requiring immediate help.
The combination of aerial and ground operations is intended to improve access to difficult-to-reach areas, particularly where flooding or challenging terrain may have disrupted normal movement.
The government has meanwhile issued a safety advisory to people residing close to riverbanks. Residents in these areas have been asked to remain on high alert and take precautions as authorities continue to monitor the situation.
The Prime Minister’s Office said rescue and relief work was being intensified to protect civilians at risk. Emergency teams are continuing efforts to deliver essential supplies while assessing the needs of communities affected by the flooding.
The deployment of helicopters has provided authorities with an important means of reaching isolated locations and transporting relief material. Foot teams are simultaneously working in areas where aerial access alone may not be sufficient.
Officials are expected to maintain close monitoring of the Bhotekoshi River and surrounding areas as the emergency response continues. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and follow instructions issued by authorities.
The government’s immediate priority remains the safety of civilians, delivery of essential relief and evacuation or rescue of people facing danger from the flooding.
