Jagannath Temple Begins Final Phase of Ratna Bhandar Audit, Deadline Set for 2026

Puri, Odisha — The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced that the audit and inventory of the Ratna Bhandar the temple’s treasury housing its treasures will be finished by April 2026, according to SJTA officials.

The inventory process will be carried out carefully in stages so as not to disrupt religious activities, said SJTA Administrator Arabinda Padhee. As part of this effort, detailed records of all jewellery and precious items will be digitised.

Also included in the audit is a huge stash of silver bars valued at roughly ₹90 crore that were recovered from the nearby Emar Mutt and are currently held in the district armoury.

The Ratna Bhandar was reopened in 2024 after years of closure, following extensive restoration work by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
