Bus Returning from Nainital Overturns in Pilibhit; One Young Woman Killed, Over 20 Injured

National Times Bureau :- A tragic road accident occurred early Wednesday when a bus carrying pilgrims returning from Nainital lost control and overturned. The mishap claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman and left more than 20 passengers injured.

The incident took place around 3:20 a.m. near the stretch between Nisara and Sardar Nagar villages on the Bareilly-Haridwar Highway, falling under the jurisdiction of Jahannabad police station. The bus, reportedly carrying around 60 passengers, skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing screams and cries from inside the bus, which drew nearby villagers and passersby to the scene. Police personnel arrived promptly and rescued the trapped passengers.

The deceased has been identified as Durga, a resident of Madhinath Choupala in Bareilly. The injured, including several residents of Subhashnagar, Bareilly, were initially treated at Jahannabad Community Health Centre before being referred to the district hospital for further care.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.
