Hardoi (Rajeev Sharma): A tragic road mishap in the Sandila area of Hardoi district claimed three lives on Sunday, including two young girls and a man, after a motorcycle was struck head-on by a truck allegedly driving against traffic.
The fatal collision occurred near the Begamganj flyover, where, according to local police, a truck veered into the wrong lane and rammed into a motorcycle. The victims — Karan, a young man from Palharai village, and his two nieces, Kajal (10) and Anshika (11) — were critically injured in the crash and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
All three had been traveling on the same two-wheeler. Karan was riding the motorcycle, while the girls, daughters of Pradeep Kumar, were seated behind him. Pradeep, who lives in Gulharia village of Unnao district, was accompanying them on a separate motorcycle with his wife.
Police officials said the truck, which was reportedly coming from the opposite direction at high speed, collided directly with Karan’s vehicle near the flyover. The force of the impact left no chance of survival for the trio.
Ashok Kumar Meena, Superintendent of Police, confirmed that the truck driver has been detained and the vehicle seized. “A case is being registered and the driver is being questioned. The bodies have been sent for autopsy,” he said.
The sudden loss has left the family devastated and sparked concern among residents about traffic violations and the dangers posed by reckless driving. Local authorities have assured that a full investigation is underway and action will be taken against those responsible.
The accident adds to a growing number of road fatalities in the region, highlighting the urgent need for stricter traffic regulation and enforcement.
