Calgary (Rajeev Sharma) : In a remarkable display of unity and community spirit, Alberta’s Punjabi media organizations (Calgary and Edmonton area) are coming together to support the Sikh Society of Calgary Expansion Project Mediathon, a major fundraising initiative for the renewal of Calgary’s first Gurdwara Sahib, established in 1979.
The live Mediathon will be held on November 9, 2025, starting at 9 AM, broadcast directly from Sikh Society Calgary, located at 739 81 St SW, Calgary, Alberta. All participating media will telecast live on their respective media platforms, with feed provided.
The event aims to bring the Sikh community together to preserve and expand a sacred landmark that has been a cornerstone of Sikh faith and culture in Alberta for nearly five decades. Organizers describe the project as a journey of renewal and a heartfelt tribute to the pioneering Sikh families who built Calgary’s first Gurdwara Sahib, creating a spiritual home that continues to unite generations. “This is not just about construction, it’s about building the next chapter of our legacy,” said a spokesperson from the Sikh Society. “Together, with vision, compassion, and Chardi Kalaa, we can strengthen our community for the future.”
Community members are encouraged to support and donate, either online or in person at the Gurdwara office. Donations over $20 are eligible for tax receipts. To make a donation, visit www.sikhsocietyofcalgary.org/donate.
As Alberta’s Punjabi media unites for this noble cause, the Mediathon serves as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when the community comes together guided by faith, service, and unity.
