Djokovic Marks US Open Win With Dance Tribute to Daughter Tara

New York, September 3, 2025 — Novak Djokovic brought both tennis brilliance and a touch of family fun to Arthur Ashe Stadium after defeating Taylor Fritz in the US Open quarterfinals. The 24-time Grand Slam champion sealed a 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 victory before breaking into dance moves inspired by the hit movie KPop Demon Hunters.

Djokovic revealed that the choreography was taught to him by his daughter, Tara, who celebrated her eighth birthday on Tuesday. Calling the win “a big present” for her, he said he hoped his performance on court both in tennis and dance would make her smile when she watched the highlights from home.

“We are at home doing different choreographies, and this is one of them,” Djokovic explained during his on-court interview. “Hopefully I’ll make her smile when she wakes up in the morning.”

The dance, rooted in the globally popular Sony Pictures/Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters, reflects the viral craze around the fictional K-pop group HUNTR/X. Since its release, the film has dominated streaming charts, inspiring fan art, cosplay, and trending dance routines. Its soundtrack recently debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Soundtracks chart and reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200.

For Djokovic, the moment blended sport and family, showing how a hard-fought quarterfinal win could double as a heartfelt birthday gift.
