National Times Bureau :- Jalandhar Rural police on Thursday detained two BJP leaders, KD Bhandari and former MP Sushil Rinku, for allegedly planning to organize a public camp without prior permission from the administration. The detentions were carried out in Shahkot’s Rupewali area under the supervision of DSP Omkar Singh Brar.
According to sources, the police received information about BJP leaders preparing to set up the camp, following which action was taken. BJP workers have begun gathering in protest after learning about the detentions.
Recently, tensions have been brewing between the BJP and the Punjab government after the closure of 39 BJP-organized public service camps. The party accused the government of deliberately obstructing their activities.
Meanwhile, the state government has issued fresh directives to all Deputy Commissioners, instructing strict action against individuals or organizations collecting data without authorization. The circular further states that government-related information should only be shared with officially recognized or approved persons.
