Project to Attract Over ₹1 Lakh Crore Investment, Create 5 Lakh Jobs, and Offer World-Class Infrastructure
Chandigarh, April 11 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that the Global City being developed in Gurugram will become a major landmark in the state’s development. Designed to meet international standards, the project is set to attract investment of over ₹1 lakh crore and impact the lives of nearly 1.6 million people.
Chairing a meeting with investors at the Global City site on Friday, CM Saini stated that this ambitious project will not only boost infrastructure but also generate over five lakh new job opportunities. Spread across 1,000 acres, the city will feature mixed-use land for residential, commercial, hospitality, and educational purposes.
The Chief Minister said that the first phase of the Global City, covering 587 acres with an investment of ₹940 crore, is scheduled for completion by the end of next year. Modern urban features and sustainability will go hand in hand, with a special focus on environmental protection.
A 350-million-litre mass balancing reservoir will be built on 18 acres to ensure water supply, enhancing both the city’s beauty and functionality with a seven-day water backup system. In addition, a 10.7-kilometer utility tunnel will house pipelines, electric cables, fire safety systems, lighting, ventilation, and more.
Highlighting the city’s green vision, CM Saini said about 125 acres will be designated as green zones to ensure the area remains cooler than central Gurugram. He also emphasized the strategic connectivity of the Global City: just 30 minutes from Delhi International Airport, 20 minutes from the railway station and ICD, and 10 minutes from both the helipad and multimodal transit hub. The city will be connected through NPR, SPR, CPR, and NH-48.
During the meeting, major private sector groups including Macrotech (Lodha), DLF, Adani, RMZ, L&T Realty, Signature, Eldeco, Hero Realty, Unity, Bestech, Prestige Construction, JLL, CBRE, and ASF showed strong interest in the project. CM Saini also reviewed their suggestions and instructed officials to take appropriate action based on investor feedback.
Principal Secretary D. Suresh and Chief Coordinator Sunil Sharma presented a detailed overview of the Global City project through a PPT. Later, CM Saini briefed the media and inspected the site with officials. The Chief Minister and other dignitaries also planted saplings to promote environmental sustainability.
Also present were Principal Advisor D.S. Dhesi, HSIDC MD Sushil Sarwan, and other senior officials.
