New York (Rajeev Sharma): The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) has strengthened Canada-Nigeria economic ties through a strategic partnership with Diaspora Investment for Sustainable Impact in Africa (DISIA), aimed at expanding trade, investment and diaspora-driven business opportunities.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Yasharth Verma, Vice President of CHCC, and Dr. Angela, President and Chair of DISIA, during a high-level Nigeria-Diaspora Trade and Investment Engagement at the Consulate General of Nigeria in New York.
The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation in trade and investment, food security, job creation, economic inclusion, technology, innovation, diaspora engagement and sustainable development, with opportunities across Nigeria, including Niger State.
The engagement brought together Nigerian government and diplomatic representatives, DISIA, Intergraid LLC and private-sector stakeholders to explore practical avenues for cross-border business and investment.
CHCC said the partnership will focus on turning international connections into real opportunities for Canadian businesses, entrepreneurs and investors, while creating stronger pathways for Nigerian enterprises to access Canadian markets, expertise and investment.
The agreement marks another step toward building long-term Canada-Nigeria commercial relationships and expanding the role of the diaspora in economic development.
