President Murmu Begins Punjab-Haryana Visit, To Attend Key Events

Chandigarh, March 10, 2025 – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann extended a warm welcome to President Droupadi Murmu as she arrived in Chandigarh today for a three-day visit to Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.

The President’s tour, scheduled from March 10 to 12, includes participation in major academic and social events across the region.

Key Events on President Murmu’s Itinerary

On March 10, President Murmu will attend the convocation ceremony of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar. Later, she will launch the ‘Spiritual Education for Holistic Well-Being’ campaign by the Brahma Kumaris, marking their golden jubilee celebrations in Hisar.

On March 11, she will preside over the convocation ceremonies of the Central University of Punjab and AIIMS, Bathinda. In the evening, the Punjab government will host a civic reception in her honour in Mohali.

On March 12, she will conclude her visit by attending the convocation ceremony of Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Focus on Women’s Empowerment

Ahead of her visit, President Murmu spoke on International Women’s Day, stressing the importance of gender equality in India’s progress. She highlighted that a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) is only possible when women can participate in the workforce without bias or barriers.

Her engagements in Punjab and Haryana reflect her focus on education, empowerment, and holistic development, making this visit highly significant for the region.
