SAS Nagar, March 4, 2025 – Preparations for the state-level mock drill on chemical disasters, scheduled for March 6 in Dera Bassi, were reviewed during a high-level meeting at the District Administrative Complex under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal. Officials from various departments participated to ensure smooth execution of the drill.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to stay prepared for emergencies like chemical disasters, floods, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) incidents, fires, and earthquakes, which are potential risks in Punjab. The drill will focus on emergency response, first aid, and public safety measures.
A central team briefed attendees on the importance of preparedness for chemical disasters. The mock drill in Dera Bassi will demonstrate how to protect oneself and others in case of a hazardous chemical event. The Deputy Commissioner also emphasized that all departments must have the necessary disaster management equipment and resources ready to handle any crisis effectively.
Senior officials present included ADC Sonam Chaudhary, SDM Mohali Damanadeep Kaur, SDM Dera Bassi Amit Gupta, District Development and Panchayat Officer Baljinder Singh Garewal, and other key department representatives.
