40,000-Page Chargesheet Filed Against Bikram Majithia in Punjab Assets Probe

No Relief for Bikram Singh Majithia: Punjab-Haryana High Court Defers Hearing Till July 8

Mohali (Gurpreet Singh): The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has intensified its legal case against senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia by submitting a chargesheet of approximately 40,000 pages in a disproportionate assets case before a special court in Mohali.

The extensive filing reportedly contains records of financial transactions, bank accounts and properties associated with Majithia and individuals linked to him. The investigation centres on allegations that the former Punjab Cabinet minister accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income.

The submission of the chargesheet marks a significant step in the proceedings, although the specific findings and the next steps in court were not immediately available.

Extensive Documentation Submitted to Court

The Vigilance Bureau has compiled a substantial body of material for the case, with financial records and property-related information reportedly forming a major part of the submission.

Investigators are examining these records in connection with the allegations against Majithia. The documents are expected to be considered as the legal process moves forward.

However, the precise details of the evidence, including the assets under scrutiny and the financial calculations involved, have not been fully disclosed in the available information.

Majithia Remains at the Centre of Legal Proceedings

Majithia is a senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal and has previously held a ministerial position in Punjab. The disproportionate assets case concerns allegations about whether the assets attributed to him are consistent with his known sources of income.

The chargesheet represents the investigating agency’s case and does not, by itself, establish guilt. The allegations will be subject to the judicial process.

Court Proceedings Awaited

Following the filing, further developments will depend on the proceedings before the special court in Mohali. Details about the next hearing, the court’s consideration of the submitted material and any response from Majithia were not immediately available.

The case continues to draw attention because of the scale of the chargesheet and the political prominence of the accused leader. Further information is expected as the matter progresses through the courts.
