Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Governor Prof. Aseem Kumar Ghosh stated that the collective resolve of the nation’s youth is essential to achieving a drug-free and developed India. Attending the state-level ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva, Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ held at Kurukshetra University’s auditorium, the Governor, alongside over 2,500 students and faculty members, tuned in to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s virtual address. Following the live session, Governor Ghosh led the gathering in taking a formal pledge to build a drug-free nation.
In his address, Governor Ghosh emphasized that India has historically overcome major adversities, including wars, economic crises, and pandemics, expressing confidence that the youth will similarly defeat the social evil of drug abuse. Highlighting Haryana’s contributions to the military, agriculture, sports, education, and information technology, he urged the state’s residents to take a leading role in the anti-drug movement. He called upon everyone to work toward Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed, prosperous, and empowered India by 2047.
Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Somnath Sachdeva described the initiative as a crucial step toward nurturing healthy and responsible citizens, emphasizing that with 65 percent of its population under the age of 35, India’s youth power is its greatest asset. Highlighting Prime Minister Modi’s directive, the event reinforced a call to spiritual, educational, and social organizations to lead continuous anti-drug awareness drives every Sunday over the next 100 weeks, transforming the campaign into a sustained nationwide movement.
