Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini joined the nationwide launch of the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ from Kotkapura in Punjab on Sunday, reinforcing the call to protect youth across the country from substance abuse to fulfill the vision of a developed India. The 100-week nationwide anti-drug campaign was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, connecting over one crore youth across 28,000 locations across the country.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Saini contrasted Haryana’s proactive measures against drug addiction—such as regular marathons, cyclothons, and community engagement events—with the situation in Punjab. He claimed that the current administration in Punjab, alongside previous Congress regimes, failed to curb the drug menace or generate sufficient employment opportunities, thereby leaving local youth vulnerable to addiction.
Saini stated that a future BJP-led administration in Punjab would replicate Haryana’s welfare policies for both youth and farmers. Highlighting Haryana’s agricultural support, he noted the state government’s policy of purchasing all 24 crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP) and compensating price fluctuations for fruits and vegetables under the Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana, promising similar frameworks for farmers in Punjab.
