Thousands Join Youth Run Punjab 2026 in Amritsar to Champion Drug-Free State

Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): As part of the ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Youth Wing organised the ‘Youth Run Punjab 2026’ marathon in Amritsar on Sunday to strengthen the fight against drugs and connect young people with sports. Starting at 6 AM from Ranjit Avenue, the marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from thousands of young people, sportspersons and citizens across all age groups, sending a strong message in favour of fitness, healthy living and a drug-free Punjab. The event saw the participation of the entire AAP leadership of Amritsar, which joined to encourage the youth and promote the importance of sports in building a healthier society.

Flagged off by AAP Punjab Working President and MLA Aman Sher Singh Shery Kalsi, the marathon reflected the growing emphasis on channelising the energy of Punjab’s youth into constructive activities and encouraging them to stay away from drugs. The initiative underlined the Bhagwant Mann government’s commitment to building a drug-free Punjab and advancing the vision of a happy, prosperous and Rangla Punjab.

Flagging off the marathon, AAP Punjab Working President and MLA Aman Sher Singh Shery Kalsi said, “The opposition constantly targets Punjab by portraying its youth in a negative light. However, the massive participation in Youth Run Punjab 2026 showcases the real achievements of our state. Thousands of young people have come together today to promote fitness, sports and a drug-free Punjab.”

Thanking CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, Aman Sher Singh Shery Kalsi stated, “The government is working for every section of society through people-centric initiatives such as pilgrimage tours for senior citizens and Mohalla Clinics. Alongside these welfare measures, efforts are being made to help those who have taken the wrong path return to a constructive life. I salute the vision of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and Arvind Kejriwal for working towards a happier and more prosperous Punjab.”

AAP Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said, “Youth Run Punjab has already received an overwhelming response in Mohali, Bathinda and Jalandhar, where thousands of young people participated enthusiastically. Today, on the holy land of Amritsar, young people and wrestlers from across the Majha region have arrived in large numbers since early morning to participate in our fourth programme. This enthusiasm reflects the sporting spirit and strength of Majha.”

Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said, “Punjab’s youth are choosing sports and fitness. The participation of thousands of children and young people in the Youth Run organised in Amritsar sends a strong message that our youth are ready to embrace a healthy lifestyle and stay away from drugs. Punjab is steadily moving towards becoming a happy, prosperous and Rangla Punjab.”

The AAP said the ‘Youth Run Punjab 2026’ initiative reflects its commitment to promoting sports, encouraging healthy lifestyles and mobilising young people in the collective effort to make Punjab drug-free.

Punjab’s ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ is gaining momentum, with more than one lakh people participating in ‘Youth Run Punjab 2026’ across the state so far. Organised under the ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’, the marathon series has brought together thousands of young people, sportspersons, women, children and senior citizens in Mohali, Bathinda, Jalandhar and Amritsar. The enthusiastic participation across these locations has sent a strong collective message against drugs, highlighting the growing focus on sports, fitness and healthy living as Punjab works towards a drug-free future and a Rangla Punjab.
