Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): A bomb threat concerning Delhi’s historic Red Fort prompted a rapid response from law enforcement agencies after an emergency call was received by the Mumbai Police Control Room. Following coordinated action between police teams in Mumbai and Delhi, officials later confirmed that the threat was unfounded.
The alert was initially received in Mumbai, where the caller allegedly claimed that an explosion had been planned at the Red Fort. As per security protocol, the information was immediately passed on to the Delhi Police Control Room for urgent action.
Police personnel from Delhi’s North District quickly launched an investigation and carried out necessary security checks around the monument. Officers inspected the area and verified the information before concluding that the threat lacked credibility.
Officials confirmed that no suspicious object or explosive material was found during the search operation, and the situation was declared safe after a thorough assessment.
Authorities said that although the call turned out to be a hoax, every bomb threat is treated as a serious security matter. Standard operating procedures were activated to ensure there was no risk to visitors or public property.
Investigators have now initiated efforts to identify the person responsible for making the false emergency call. Police noted that creating panic through fake bomb threats is a punishable offence and those found guilty can face stringent legal consequences.
The incident once again demonstrated the coordination between police forces across states, with information being shared promptly to ensure a swift and effective response. Officials have appealed to the public not to misuse emergency services, stressing that false alerts consume valuable security resources that may be needed during genuine emergencies.
