Railway Track Blast Near Rajpura Triggers Security Alert; Suspected Attacker Killed in Explosion

Arrest Warrants Issued Against AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra and Associates in Patiala Case

Rajpura (Gurpreet Singh): A late-night explosion on a railway track in Punjab has sparked a major security alert, with officials suspecting a failed sabotage attempt after a body was discovered at the scene.

The blast occurred along the Ambala–Amritsar freight rail corridor near the Rajpura–Shambhu section, damaging a portion of the track and prompting an immediate response from multiple security agencies. Teams from the GRP, RPF, and Punjab Police reached the site shortly after the incident and began a detailed investigation.

Authorities recovered the remains of an unidentified individual close to the damaged track. Preliminary findings suggest that the person may have been attempting to plant an improvised explosive device but was killed when it detonated unexpectedly. Forensic teams are examining the remains and surrounding evidence to confirm this theory.

Investigators are also looking into reports of a prior warning about a possible threat to railway infrastructure. Officials are assessing whether any lapse in response to that alert may have contributed to the incident.

In a significant development, two motorcycles—reportedly registered in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana—were found abandoned near the blast site. Police are working to trace the owners and determine their connection, if any, to the explosion.

The area, located near the inter-state border, has been placed under heightened surveillance. Senior officials indicated that central agencies may join the investigation to examine possible links to a larger network.

Railway authorities are carrying out repair work, while security forces continue to comb the surrounding area to rule out any further threat.
