Marondera (Rajeev Sharma): Zimbabwean authorities have confirmed that an aircraft crashed in the Marondera Rural area on Wednesday evening, with six people aboard.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the incident was reported at about 5pm on September 30, 2026. Police officers were dispatched to the site, where efforts to secure the area and establish what happened were underway.

In a statement posted on X, the ZRP said the aircraft was carrying six occupants and that further information would be provided once authorities had established more details.

Marondera is situated roughly 74 kilometres southeast of Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital.

At the time of publication, police had not released the names of the people aboard the aircraft or confirmed whether anyone had been killed or injured.

Unverified reports circulating following the crash suggested that a well-known Zimbabwean businessman may have been among those on the aircraft. Authorities, however, had not confirmed the reports or identified any of the occupants.

Investigators and emergency personnel remained at the scene as authorities worked to determine the circumstances that led to the crash. Further information is expected as the police investigation progresses.
