Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the 5150th birth anniversary celebrations of Maharaja Agrasen as the chief guest at the ancient Shiva temple complex in Patran, Patiala district, Punjab. The event was organized by the Yuva Agrawal Sabha. Paying tribute to Maharaja Agrasen as a pioneer of non-violence, socialism, and compassion, the Chief Minister extended his greetings to citizens on the occasion of the Jayanti as well as the Ashwin Navratri festival.
Addressing the gathering, Saini emphasized that Maharaja Agrasen was not just an icon of the Agrawal community, but an extraordinary visionary for the entire Indian society. He recalled that the ruler established the unique tradition of gifting one brick and one gold coin to every newcomer family, ensuring mutual support, dignity, and economic self-reliance for all citizens. In addition, Maharaja Agrasen instituted a prohibition on animal sacrifice, creating a foundational societal standard rooted in universal benevolence and non-violence.
Highlighting the historic contributions of the Agrawal community to nation-building, trade, and social service, the Chief Minister paid homage to legendary figures ranging from donor Bhamashah to prominent freedom fighters, saints, thinkers, and industrial pioneers. Connecting the ruler’s teachings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development, Saini noted that national economic reforms like the Goods and Services Tax, Digital India, and Startup India have propelled commerce and entrepreneurship to new heights. Touching upon the current climate in Punjab, he observed that local traders and youth aspire to a secure environment, transparency, and progressive governance.
Presenting an overview of Haryana’s economic progress, Saini shared that under the “Viksit Haryana 2047” roadmap, the state is targeting a one-trillion-dollar economy and the creation of five million new jobs. He pointed out that Haryana currently ranks fourth in India’s startup ecosystem, housing more than 12,000 recognized startups, 19 unicorns, and over 250 Fortune-500 companies. The administration has implemented plug-and-play facilities, the PADMA initiative for rural industrial growth, and abolished over 1,100 redundant regulatory burdens to improve the business landscape. Saini expressed optimism that similar development-oriented governance in Punjab would provide massive opportunities for regional entrepreneurs, urging citizens to embrace Maharaja Agrasen’s ideals to build a prosperous and secure society.
