News Alert

Jagraon (Gurpreet Singh): A firing incident at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Patshahi Dashmi in Jagraon has prompted a police investigation after two unidentified men allegedly entered the premises on a motorcycle and fired at the door of a room belonging to head caretaker Baba Baldev Singh in the early hours of the morning.

The incident took place at around 3:15 am, when the assailants, whose faces were reportedly covered, opened fire before escaping from the spot. The sudden gunshots alarmed those present at the religious complex.

Baba Kulwant Singh, the head Granthi, said he was inside the gurdwara with another person when they heard the gunfire. They immediately went outside and saw two masked individuals fleeing after firing at the caretaker’s room.

Police Launch Search for the Attackers

Senior police officials reached the site soon after the incident was reported. Sudhar police station SHO Rajinder Pal Singh and Dakha DSP Karan Singh Sandhu visited the premises along with other personnel.

The police have launched an investigation to determine how the suspects entered the premises, identify those responsible and establish the reason behind the shooting.

DSP Sandhu said special teams had been formed to trace and arrest the accused. He added that the matter was being examined from multiple angles and that legal action would be taken against those found responsible.

The motive behind the firing remains unclear, and investigators have yet to establish the identities of the assailants.

Similar Incident Reported in Gagda Village

The latest shooting has also brought attention to an earlier incident at Gurdwara Sahib Bhagat Dhanna Ji in Gagda village near Jagraon, where an unidentified person allegedly fired at the main gate.

According to reports, the individual had concealed their face with a cloth and left a threatening letter at the entrance before firing two rounds. Video footage of the incident has reportedly emerged.

The footage allegedly shows the person throwing a letter inside the gate before taking out a firearm. The individual appears to check the weapon several times, briefly dropping it before picking it up and eventually firing two shots. The person then leaves the location.

Police have not established whether the earlier incident and the latest firing are connected.

Safety at Religious Sites Under Scrutiny

The two reported incidents have heightened concerns over security at gurdwaras in and around Jagraon. The latest attack, which took place during the early morning hours, has raised questions about the safety of people staying or working within religious premises.

Police are continuing their efforts to gather evidence and identify those involved. The investigation is expected to focus on the circumstances of the attack and the motive behind targeting the caretaker’s room.

Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
