Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Indian Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, paid a courtesy visit to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at his official residence, Sant Kabir Kutir, in Chandigarh. The high-level meeting focused on strengthening civil-military coordination, addressing regional security considerations, and expanding welfare frameworks for serving personnel, veterans, and their families.
The discussion was attended by Western Command Army Commander Lieutenant General Pushpender Singh, AVSM, SM, alongside senior military officers from Army Headquarters and state government representatives. The interaction marked General Dheeraj Seth’s first official meeting with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini after assuming the post of Chief of the Army Staff, with the session coordinated by Colonel Jasdeep Sandhu, Advisor on Civil-Military Affairs and IT.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini highlighted Haryana’s deep historical ties with the Indian Armed Forces and reaffirmed the state administration’s commitment to supporting defense personnel, veterans, and military families. He emphasized that sustained collaboration between the state government and the military remains vital for reinforcing national security, facilitating youth empowerment, and creating vocational opportunities.
The meeting covered a wide spectrum of strategic and welfare subjects, including internal security arrangements, employment pathways for Agniveers, housing initiatives, self-reliance measures, and operational readiness. Both leaders discussed disaster management preparedness to ensure swift joint responses during natural emergencies. Additionally, the Chief Minister commended the outstanding contributions of Haryana’s athletes serving in the Indian Army for their national and international achievements.
General Dheeraj Seth expressed gratitude to the Haryana government for its continued assistance to the veteran community. He further discussed exploring new avenues for the post-retirement rehabilitation and long-term settlement of ex-servicemen across the state.
