India Mobilises Support After Qatar Industrial Blast Claims Lives of 12 Citizens

Doha/New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): The Government of India has intensified its outreach efforts in Qatar following the deadly explosion at Ras Laffan Industrial City, which claimed the lives of 12 Indian nationals and left several others injured.

Expressing grief over the tragedy, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said India stands firmly with the affected families and is closely coordinating with Qatari authorities to ensure all necessary assistance reaches those impacted.

The Indian Embassy in Doha has activated emergency response mechanisms and is maintaining direct contact with local officials, hospitals and community representatives. Embassy teams are also assisting families of the deceased with documentation, repatriation procedures and other support services.

The explosion occurred at one of Qatar’s major industrial and energy hubs, triggering a large-scale emergency response. While rescue and recovery operations continue, authorities are working to establish the exact cause of the incident.

Officials said a number of Indian workers employed in the industrial zone were present when the blast took place. The Indian mission has been gathering information on the condition of injured nationals and facilitating communication with their relatives back home.

The tragedy has drawn condolences from leaders, community groups and members of the Indian diaspora. Many expatriate organisations in Qatar have stepped forward to support affected families and coordinate relief efforts.

India’s diplomatic mission has urged citizens in Qatar to remain calm and rely on official updates while authorities continue their investigation. Helplines and assistance channels have also been made available for those seeking information about loved ones.

Ras Laffan is one of the most important industrial centres in the Gulf region and hosts major energy and processing facilities. The incident has raised concerns about industrial safety and operational risks in high-capacity production zones.

As the investigation progresses, both Indian and Qatari authorities are expected to work closely to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion and provide support to those affected by one of the deadliest industrial incidents in the region in recent times.
