Haryana Deploys Advanced AI and Tech Solutions to Tackle Financial Fraud and Cybercrime

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana is scaling up its deployment of artificial intelligence and modern technologies to counter escalating cyber threats, curb financial fraud, and safeguard public investments. Chairing the 16th meeting of the Reserve Bank of India’s State Level Coordination Committee in Chandigarh on Monday, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi conducted an extensive review of evolving financial scams and directed agencies to strengthen institutional coordination alongside grassroots public awareness initiatives.

A major focus of the review centred on technological interventions designed to detect and disrupt illicit financial networks. Officials highlighted the successful implementation of “MuleHunter.ai,” an advanced tool developed by the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub that leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify fraudulent mule accounts. The system has already been integrated across 31 major commercial banks to track suspicious transaction flows. The committee also assessed emerging cyber threats targeting younger demographics, notably online gaming schemes where fraudsters lure youth with counterfeit rewards to exploit parental bank accounts and linked digital payment channels.

On the investor protection front, the committee reported that over 3.86 million PACL Limited investors have recovered 3,864 crore rupees in refunded capital to date. Regional Director of the RBI Vivek Srivastava informed the panel that an updated version of the “Sachet” portal was rolled out on June 25, 2026, offering features in 13 national languages, improved accessibility provisions for individuals with disabilities, and guided video tutorials for lodging complaints regarding unregulated deposit schemes. To bolster public defence against scams, the state has organized more than 25,000 financial literacy workshops, supported by RBI awareness efforts such as the “RBI Talks: Paisa to Policy” educational podcast series.
