Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday reviewed public grievances raised by MLAs and directed administrative officials to ensure that complaints brought up by elected representatives lead to timely action on the ground rather than remaining limited to assurances.
The Chief Minister held a nearly six-hour meeting in Chandigarh with MLAs, administrative secretaries and heads of departments, during which complaints submitted through the Jan Samvad portal were reviewed in detail. Issues from different Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies were discussed, with officials instructed to personally monitor cases falling under their departments.
Saini said reducing the gap between citizens and the administration was a priority and stressed that people should not have to repeatedly visit government offices to get legitimate complaints resolved.
He directed officials to coordinate with MLAs on constituency-level issues and ensure that matters that can be resolved at the district level are not unnecessarily escalated or kept pending.
Development projects must be completed on time
The Chief Minister directed departments to monitor ongoing development projects regularly and ensure their completion within the prescribed timelines.
He said unnecessary delays in development works would not be accepted and asked officials to remain active in the field, seek regular feedback from public representatives and strengthen local grievance-redressal mechanisms.
Government land records to be updated within a month
Saini also directed all departments to identify their respective government land and update related records within one month.
Officials were told to take necessary action to remove illegal encroachments from government land wherever found and ensure effective utilisation of public property.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to prepare an effective night-route plan for the Panipat city bus service. He said at least one bus should operate every hour after 11 pm to provide late-night transport facilities to residents.
Instructions on long-pending settlement issues
The Chief Minister asked the Irrigation and Urban Local Bodies departments to formulate policies on the lines of the Panchayat Department so that families residing in relevant areas for 20 years or more can receive benefits as per applicable rules.
He directed officials to complete the required process at the earliest to address issues faced by families who have been living in these areas for a long period.
Accountability in public-interest matters
Saini said good governance should not be limited to framing policies but should be reflected in their implementation and impact on citizens.
He directed officials to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of government schemes and that administrative hurdles are addressed promptly.
The meeting was attended by Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa.
Chief Minister’s Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta, OSD (Jan Samvad) Bhopal Singh Khadri, OSD B B Bharti, OSD Vivek Kalia, administrative secretaries and heads of various departments were also present.
