Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved nine proposals aimed at strengthening the state’s public transport system, improving road infrastructure and expanding healthcare and educational facilities. The decisions were taken during meetings of the High Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC) and High Powered Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC) in Chandigarh on Monday.

The state government said negotiations with bidders helped it save approximately Rs 11.96 crore across the approved projects.

Among the major decisions are the purchase of 500 new buses and 24 trucks for Haryana Roadways, two flyovers and an underpass in Gurugram, and a new railway overbridge in Panipat.

Haryana Roadways To Get 500 New Buses And 24 Trucks

The Chief Minister approved the purchase of 500 fully built, non-air-conditioned diesel buses for Haryana Roadways. The buses will comply with the latest BS-VI emission standards.

The government also cleared the purchase of 24 fully built diesel-engine trucks, along with diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) required by Roadways depots and sub-depots for the next year.

The addition of 500 buses is expected to increase the transport capacity of Haryana Roadways and strengthen connectivity across different routes.

Two Flyovers And An Underpass Approved For Gurugram

Three infrastructure projects proposed by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) have received approval to ease traffic congestion in the city.

The projects include:

  • An underpass at the Sector 27-29 and Sector 43-44 intersection, aimed at reducing traffic congestion around Millennium City Centre Metro Station.

The projects are intended to ease pressure at busy junctions and improve connectivity between different sectors of Gurugram.

New Railway Overbridge Approved In Panipat

The government has also approved the construction of a new railway overbridge in Panipat, parallel to the existing one on the route connecting GT Road through Dahar to National Highway 709.

The proposed bridge is expected to improve movement across the railway line and provide better connectivity for local residents and commuters using the route.

Medical College And University Infrastructure To Be Expanded

The HPPC and HPWPC meetings also cleared proposals linked to healthcare and educational infrastructure.

These include the purchase of furniture for the Sant Shiromani Shri Dhanna Bhagat Government Medical College, currently under construction in Haibatpur village of Jind district.

Approval was also granted for the remaining construction work on Type-II (G+6) faculty residences, each measuring 1,300 square feet, at the University of Health Sciences in Rohtak.
