Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday announced that the state Assembly will hold a special session on November 26 to mark Constitution Day. The session, to be organised as part of the Constitution Fortnight, will discuss various aspects of the Indian Constitution.
The announcement came after a state Cabinet meeting in Chandigarh, where seven agenda items were approved, according to the Chief Minister. Addressing the media after the meeting, Saini also spoke about his government’s welfare initiatives and launched a sharp attack on the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over their political record in Punjab.
Haryana Assembly’s Special Session On November 26
Saini said the special session would be held on Constitution Day, observed every year on November 26. The discussion will focus on different aspects of the Constitution.
He also extended festive greetings to people and said the state government was continuing to push forward development and public welfare initiatives.
Saini Claims BJP Has Strengthened Welfare Delivery In Haryana
Highlighting the Centre and Haryana government’s work under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Saini said development activities had gathered pace since 2014. He alleged that before the BJP came to power, corruption prevented funds meant for development from reaching the intended beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister said government assistance was now being transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. He also cited recruitment, sports promotion, healthcare and housing as areas where his government had taken steps.
Saini reiterated the Haryana government’s claim that it had provided government jobs on merit through a transparent recruitment process, without money or recommendations. He added that the Ayushman Bharat scheme’s coverage had been expanded and around 1.6 lakh houses had been built for families in need.
629 Gaushalas Receive Rs 86.95 Crore Grant
The Chief Minister said the state government had released Rs 86.95 crore to 629 gaushalas a day earlier. The funds are intended to support cattle fodder arrangements, shed construction, maintenance and other requirements.
He said the government was committed to protecting cattle and improving facilities at gaushalas across Haryana.
‘BJP Government Will Be Formed In Punjab’: Saini Targets Congress, AAP
Turning to Punjab politics, Saini claimed that the BJP would form the next government in the state. He said people had already indicated their support for the party and accused both the Congress and AAP of failing to fulfil their election promises.
Targeting AAP, the Haryana Chief Minister referred to its promise of providing jobs to 25 lakh people in Punjab. He asked the party to explain how many young people had actually secured employment during its five years in power.
Saini also questioned AAP’s record on farmers’ welfare and financial assistance for women. He alleged that the party had disappointed both groups despite making promises before coming to power.
Responding to a question about alleged pressure on organisers of his political programmes in Punjab, Saini claimed that he was being prevented from visiting the state and that organisers were being pressured. These were allegations made by the Haryana Chief Minister.
Saini Compares Stubble Management In Haryana And Punjab
On stubble burning, Saini claimed that Haryana had recorded a decline in such incidents, while several cases had been reported in Punjab.
He said Haryana was providing farmers an incentive of Rs 1,200 per acre for stubble management. The state had also made agricultural equipment available to more than 1.5 lakh farmers, he added.
Taking a swipe at AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, Saini recalled that Kejriwal had earlier questioned the smoke coming from Punjab. He said the AAP leadership should now explain what concrete steps it had taken to tackle stubble burning in the state.
Asked about the possibility of contesting an election from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s Dhuri constituency, Saini responded with a jibe, saying Mann had kept his distance from Dhuri for five years.
Saini Urges People To Buy Swadeshi Products
The Chief Minister also urged people to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ appeal, particularly during the festive season. He encouraged residents to light earthen lamps during Diwali and purchase goods from local shopkeepers and artisans.
Saini said prioritising locally made products would help strengthen small businesses, create employment opportunities and keep money within the country.
