Haryana Clears Gypsum Procurement for 1 Million Acres of Land Reclamation, Approves Multi-Crore Infrastructure Projects

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— The Haryana government has approved the procurement of 25,000 tonnes of gypsum valued at approximately 15.63 crore rupees to facilitate soil reclamation across 10 lakh acres of agricultural land. Presiding over a High Powered Purchase Committee meeting in Chandigarh on Tuesday, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated that high-quality gypsum will be supplied to farmers at a 50 per cent subsidy through the Haryana Land Reclamation and Development Corporation to rapidly restore soil fertility.

The committee sanctioned an array of civic, healthcare, administrative, and transportation projects across several districts, alongside an incentive policy for agencies completing construction ahead of schedule. Key approvals in agriculture and storage include the construction of a 21,680-metric-tonne warehouse and a dedicated quality control laboratory at the Hafed Complex in Kaithal with an expenditure of 9.80 crore rupees.

Major rural and urban civic infrastructure investments were cleared, highlighted by 75.50 crore rupees allocated for comprehensive drinking water schemes across nine villages in Panipat district—including Bhainswal, Kutani, Rajakheri, Nimbri, Ugrakheri, Risalu, Nangalkheri, Kabri, Garhi, and Sikanderpur—under the Mahagram Yojana. Additionally, a 16.30 crore rupee sewage pipeline project was cleared for the Shani Mandir and MPS Gudha zones of Gohana, alongside a 21.17 crore rupee water supply expansion for Julana town.

Administrative, judicial, and public safety infrastructure received substantial capital allocations. Approvals include a 22.70 crore rupee judicial complex in Sector 27 of Pinjore-Kalka, a 34 crore rupee allocation for Phase III of the Administrative Block at the Mini Secretariat in Ambala City, and 52 crore rupees for Phase I of the Bank Square building in Ambala Cantt. The government also cleared the construction of two new district jails: a 40 crore rupee facility at Jaloli village in Panchkula and a 37 crore rupee facility in Fatehabad.

Healthcare and medical education projects greenlit in the meeting feature a new Government Nursing College at Safidon costing 37.49 crore rupees, an expansion and upgrade of Narnaul Civil Hospital from 100 to 200 beds at a cost of 26.30 crore rupees, and the establishment of a 50-bed AYUSH hospital in Yamunanagar valued at 16.89 crore rupees.

In transport and highway infrastructure, the committee approved 16.80 crore rupees to upgrade roads in Industrial Area Phase I, Panchkula, and 65.66 crore rupees for the maintenance and repair of an 83-kilometre stretch along the Kundli-Manesar corridor. The meeting also sanctioned 26.90 crore rupees to widen the Kurukshetra-Saharanpur State Highway to 10 metres, with the Chief Minister adding that a Detailed Project Report is underway to expand the corridor into a four-lane highway.
