New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh) — Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday strongly condemned the arrest of former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain by the Anti-Corruption Branch, asserting that the 2024 Delhi Jal Board case would ultimately be proven fabricated. Defending the senior party leader, Kejriwal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of orchestrating the action through investigating agencies as part of an ongoing political vendetta.
The reaction follows the arrest of Jain alongside five others in connection with a First Information Report filed in May 2024 by the Directorate of Vigilance, which alleged irregularities and tender manipulation in contracts for the upgradation of sewage treatment plants under the Delhi Jal Board. Taking to social media platform X, the former Delhi chief minister said the public still recalls the earlier hardships imposed on Jain, asserting that just as previous allegations collapsed, the new accusations would also be exposed before the nation.
Kejriwal criticised what he termed authoritarian governance, questioning who would take accountability for the mental distress and prison time endured by leaders targeted with baseless charges. Affirming that the entire party and the broader public stand firmly behind the former minister, the AAP chief declared that political misuse of state machinery would not deter their movement.
