Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has launched a sharp attack against opposition political parties, alleging that they are engaging in deliberate tactics to mislead young people over the NEET examination controversy. Speaking to reporters at Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Chief Minister Saini emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken strong note of the situation to safeguard the future of students, directing authorities to register police complaints and fast-track investigations to ensure swift judicial proceedings for those responsible. Saini criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for failing to participate in a constructive parliamentary debate on the issue, urging opposition leaders to offer meaningful solutions to strengthen the national examination system rather than seeking political advantage.
The Haryana Chief Minister drew comparisons between current governance practices and past administrative records, pointing out that paper leaks were widespread during the UPA government without effective measures being introduced to prevent them. He noted that while previous administrations allocated a education budget of only ₹8,225 crore, the central government has increased funding to ₹1.39 lakh crore. Saini also highlighted legal measures taken within Haryana, including the enactment of the Haryana Prevention of Unfair Means in Public Examinations Act, which establishes strict penalties ranging from two to ten years in prison to preserve the integrity of state tests.
Contrasting Haryana’s recruitment record with neighbouring Punjab, Saini noted recent judicial interventions where the High Court stayed competitive exam results in Punjab due to administrative irregularities and the selection of improper candidates. He stated that over the past eleven and a half years, Haryana has provided 183,000 public sector jobs based strictly on merit without corruption, compared to 86,000 appointments during the preceding Congress administration. Former Minister Manish Grover, BJP District President Ranbir Dhaka, and Education Board Chairman Shankar Lal Dhupad accompanied the Chief Minister during the press conference.
